Chapter 8: Feelings Laid Bare
High above the skies above a small coastal town simply called Small Town, the air was peaceful. Despite the name, Small Town wasn’t actually that small. It’s no metropolis, but it is a rather bustling town. But from up here, you could see everything. From the rich neighborhood where all the important people lived, to the shady government building that houses weird scientific experiments that should be top secret but everyone kinda knows about them already, to even the long stretches of beaches, water parks and other such aquatic activities that Small Town is really known for.
When summer rolls around, this is a great spot for all types of fun in the sun. From up here, you could see everything. You could even see a hot air balloon rocketing up into the sky carrying two screaming naked people inside it.
…wait what?
“aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!“
Eventually the balloon came to a stop. Diego and Rina were hanging on for dear life as through a series of very absurd events caused by Rina and indirectly by Rina’s best friend Kiki, Diego and Rina were now trapped in a specially designed hot air balloon with no way down.
The basket was large enough for them to move around in, but if they moved around too much, they were in danger of tipping it over. Diego shakily got to his feet and took stock of the situation. “Wow…we’re so high up.”
He looked around and saw nothing but sky around him. They weren’t in the clouds, but rather 500 feet above the street. He looked down and got a little scared but calmed himself. He had to think rationally. He wasn’t scared of heights but still, he needed to find a way to get both of them down without getting hurt.
He looked around the balloon, but he had no clue how to fly one of these. He assumed the burner was still going due to the remote that Kiki attempted to give him to control it. Why would someone invent a remote controlled hot air balloon anyway?
That’s when he noticed that Rina was currently huddled in a ball on the floor of the basket, currently having a panic attack.
“Uh…Rina, you ok there?”
“…H-heights…”
“What?”
“Heights…I’m scared of….h-heights.”
“Of course, why wouldn’t you be?”
As he looked at her hyperventilating and trying not to burst into tears, he thought to himself, “Why couldn’t she be afraid of nudity? Then at least none of this would be happening.”
He looked around and tried to find a place to land this thing, so when/if he eventually figured out how to so, he could do so in a safe and preferably, deserted location. As he did, he looked back at Rina. She looked like she was genuinely about to pass out.
She was rocking back and forth and wasn’t saying anything. Diego started to feel bad. Even after everything, something about her being in this panicked state made him feel like he needed to comfort her.
He thought about it really hard and of course that voice piped up to give his two cents. “Wow…she’s pathetic. I think we finally done it.”
“Done what?”
“This is the perfect revenge. Remember how you felt? How you were in the bush before you streaked all the way home? You were forced to confront your fear head on and you cried and panicked like a little baby. WELL, LOOK WHO HAS TO DO THAT NOW!! HAHAHAHAHA!“
Diego winced as he saw her, in a fetal position, much like he was back near the beach. She was helpless. As that voice kept laughing at her pain, Diego did something that even he couldn’t believe he’d ever do.
He pat Rina on the back. She immediately looked up at him and was stunned by this gesture. “Rina, I need your help with this.”
“W-what?”
“I…need a second pair of eyes here. So we can find a better place to land.”
She was shivering and breathing a bit fast as she tried to process this. “Please, Rina….I need you.”
He reached a hand out for her to take, so she could stand. She blushed a bit as she looked at his hand, Diego started to blush as well as he then quickly added, “To help me look out and stuff, obviously. Don’t worry, I’ll be right next to you. Just stand up for me.”
She grabbed his hand and started to stand, but the basket swayed a bit, causing her to scream and wrap her hands around Diego. As he felt her chest touch his, he tried to ignore the feelings going through him and attempted to reassure her once more.
“It’s ok…I’m here. Just…hold on to me for stability.”
Soon she was standing upright, but still shivering and her eyes were shut. He gently pushed her away and grabbed her hand. She squeezed his hand as tightly as she could. He then walked her to the side of the basket.
Now looking out into the distance, Diego started to look around at all the sights of the city. High above everything, he could see that there were a few buildings in the path of the balloon.
He pulled the burner cord again to take them higher, but in doing so, gorukle escort Rina stumbled a bit and opened her eyes due to the shock. She looked down at the ground as she stood near the edge of the basket.
She went pale and almost fainted, but Diego caught her before she fell. “I got you! It’s ok, Rina….Rina look at me!”
She did so and as she looked into his eyes, she stood up. “Let’s try going back to the edge again.”
“D-Diego…I…I want to get down.”
“The sooner you help me, the sooner we can find a safe spot. 2 pairs of eyes are better than one.”
Soon they were standing near the side of the basket once more. Rina still had her eyes shut tight and her hand was still holding Diego’s.
“What the hell are you doing!?” cried that voice in Diego’s head.
“She…she needs help.”
“Even the best therapist in the world probably couldn’t fix whatever’s in her brain!”
“I meant, she needs to calm down in order to be helpful to us here.”
“All you’re doing is looking out for buildings. You could do that on your own!”
“Yeah, but…it would be more…efficient with her.”
The voice was silent for a few moments before he said, “You’re full of it. Look at you holding her hand. She’s got you under her spell, wrapped around her finger. You know for a fact that you don’t need her and she definitely doesn’t need you.”
Diego felt her get closer to him, shivering a bit as her eyes were still shut. He slowly brought his arm over her shoulder. “What are you doing?” she asked him.
“Uhh…it’s cold up here. We need to huddle for warmth and stability…”
While she still had her eyes but, she smiled a bit at that. “Yeah…it’s pretty chilly up here.”
“Very cold.”
They huddled together a bit as Rina leaned her head on Diego’s shoulder. Diego felt very warm now as this was happening. It was a rather nice feeling.
“ABORT ABORT, DO NOT CONTINUE!“
“Will you shut up please?”
“I CAN SEE YOUR HEART. SHE’S GONNA BREAK IT. YOU’RE GONNA FALL BECAUSE OF HER AND NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME AGAIN!“
“This is just to get her calm enough to help…there’s nothing…romantic about this. Just a friendly gesture is all.”
“You’ll be sorry….I know you. “She loves me? Wow? Me? That’s incredible! I finally matter!” AND THEN SHE JUST TOSSES YOU TO THE SIDE OR USES YOU OR JUST NEVER MEANT THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE.“
“LET ME JUST DO THIS. OK!? I’m tired of you making me think these things! I’m not falling for her, I just want her to stop crying and be useful. She put me into this mess and I could do without her if I wanted to!”
“Prove it.”
“What?”
“Toss her overboard.“
“W-what?”
“Do it. It’d be so easy. She’d never bother you again….“
His eyes went wide as he can’t believe he’d ever consider that. He sighed deeply and simply thought to himself, “I’m not listening to you anymore.”
“What!? No! YOU NEED ME! I’M THE ONE KEEPING YOUR HEART SAFE! YOU’LL BE HAPPIER ALONE! NO ONE WILL HARM YOU IF YOU LISTEN TO ME! SERIOUSLY, DON’T! SHE’LL BE THE END OF YOU!!“
Slowly but surely, as Diego shoved those intrusive thoughts out of his head, that voice got quieter and quieter. “NO COME ON, DON‘T DO THIS YOu need me!! you’ll regret thissss……!”
Something about being near Rina as she looked comforted by his presence made him more confident. That’s when he put his idea into motion. “Rina…open your eyes.”
“What?”
“Just open them. I’m right here.”
She did so and looked down. But just before she could panic, he said. “No! Rina, don’t look down…look up.”
It took a bit but she did so and she saw a beautiful sunset. The sunset was beautiful as they were flying over the streets of Small Town. Rina didn’t dare look down, but everything and everyone looked like ants from up here.
As they embarked on the ride of their lives, Diego saw her face light up as she looked at the sunset high above the town. He felt a bit of joy as he calmed her down. “How do you feel, Rina?”
“I….I….”
She struggled to answer as she gripped Diego’s hand. But after a bit she said, “I feel amazing.”
“See, you have nothing to worry about. Now help me look for a place to land.”
She started looking out, though he could see she still had difficulty looking down. He looked at her as she stared out. Those eyes scanning the horizon for anything of interest. Diego was looking out towards the beautiful landscape before him, but soon, his eyes drifted to a much more beautiful sight.
In the midst of all this, he realized that she was naked. Yeah, I mean, so was he and they’ve both been nude for the past few hours, but still, he almost forgotten that she was wearing nothing but her natural beauty.
Her breasts jiggled slightly as the balloon gently swayed. Her hand upon his hand made his bursa eskort bayan heart and soul feel warm. Her eyes as she looked at him in annoyance were like beautifu-
“Ahem! Diego!”
“Huh? What?”
“Are you staring at my tits, you pervert?”
“NO! NO I WASN’T! I WAS…looking towards…the mountains.” he said with a cheesy grin on his face.
“Yeah, two big soft white mountains.” She then jiggled her chest a bit as she teased him.
“Shut up. I wasn’t staring at your chest.”
“I’m so sure…”
“For your information, I was staring at your eyes!”
She looked a bit surprised but then said, “Oh yeah….?”
She then shut her eyes. “What color are my eyes?”
Without missing a beat, he said, “Green. As green as the shiniest, sparkling emerald. As green as a verdant meadow of grass. As green as the leaves of a beautiful flower.”
She shook her head as she looked away. “Lucky guess.”
He then shut his eyes. “What color are mine, hmm?”
“Brown. As brown as the sweetest chocolate. As brown as the fur of a precious puppy. As brown as the most delicious soft drink imaginable.”
“Heh, guess we both have been paying attention.” he said, blushing a bit.
“Yeah…we sure have.”
The fingers of their hands that were holding each other interlocked and Diego’s hand subconsciously started stroking hers. He tried to will himself not to look back at her and just focus on the view in front of him, but he turned his head…
…and found Rina staring right at him. She seemed to be breathing a bit fast as he saw her eyes looking him up and down. He got a blush on his face as he called her out for that. “Hey!”
“W-what?…its only fair if you got to ogle me.”
“Heh, does that mean I can stare at your boobs now?”
“NO…you perv…that’s not what that means at all.”
“Well, then stop staring at me.”
After a bit, Rina said with a smug grin on her face, “Make me…”
“What?”
“Make. Me.” She said, getting closer to him.
“Ok, I will. I’ll just stare at you harder.”
He did so, opening his eyes as wide as he could, staring right into her eyes.
“A staring contest, huh? Bring it baby dick.”
She stared at him in the same manner. Their hands were gripping each others strongly and they both were staring at each other like they were trying to intimidate one another.
As they did, they started to breathe a bit more intensely as somehow, one of them started to get closer to the other. Neither of them could tell who it was who started it, but their faces started to get closer regardless.
“I’ll win this contest.”
“Like hell you will.”
“You’ll back off first.”
“You’ll chicken out.”
Closer and closer they got. Soon they could feel their chests touch once more.
“You’ll never win.”
“I still hate you.”
“I do too…”
“You’re a bitch.”
“You’re a jerk.”
Soon their lips were gonna touch. At that point all their insults and denial ceased. Their eyes closed as they prepared for first contact.
And then, just as they could feel each other’s breath…
The basket jostled. It hit the top of a building. Diego panicked and pulled the burner cord, making the balloon rise up again. They both stood back up shakily as they took in what almost happened.
Rina was the first to speak. “HA! You were gonna kiss me!”
“Like hell I was!”
“Yeah you were….you like me don’t you?”
“N-no! Not at all!”
“Then why were you staring at me?”
“Because…it got under your skin.”
“Yeah right. You love me.”
“Please, you love me more than I’d ever love you.”
“Nah, you love me more.”
“No, you love me more.”
“No you!”
“No you!”
“NO YOU!“
“NO YOU!“
They both went at this for a while.
“No, you love me more.”
“No, you love me more.”
“You love me more.”
“YOU LOVE ME MORE!”
“YOU LOVE ME MORE!”
“YOU LOVE ME MORE!“
“YOU LOVE ME MORE!!“
“YOU LOVE ME MORE!!!“
“I LOVE YOU MORE!”
“NO, I LOVE YOU MORE!”
“I LOVE YOU MORE!”
“I LOVE YOU MORE!”
“I LOVE YOU MORE!“
“I LOVE YOU MORE!!“
“I LOVE YOU MORE!!!“
“RINA, I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU LOVE ME AND NOTHING CAN CHA-…”
Diego’s jaw dropped as he realized what he said. Rina was giggling like crazy until she noticed something.
Diego went quiet and started to blush a lot. He looked away from her and tried not to let her see his face. He took a deep breath and tried to find a way to refute that statement that Rina tricked him into saying, Bugs Bunny style…but he couldn’t.
Eventually, he went back to looking over the town and elden ödeme alan escort Rina joined him, her having a blush of her own. For a while they didn’t say anything as they drifted over the town. What more could be said really?
Diego tried to think of anything he could say to make it so that she didn’t think that she won him over…but there was nothing. They looked back at each other. He had no clue what to feel and he could tell that she didn’t know either.
Though they tried their hardest to not comment on anything or look at each other, their hands were still joined together. Diego wanted to pull his hand away so badly, but he couldn’t. She wasn’t pulling him close…he just couldn’t pull himself away.
Despite this trickery on her part…he had a bit of a smile on his face.
Rina then gasped and screamed out, “Diego! Look!”
They were floating through a street of rather tall apartment complexes. Most of the windows were dark and empty, lucky for them, and the wind was taking them straight through so there was no chance they’d crash.
But what Rina saw was that someone had a clothesline full of clothes hanging across two of the buildings. They were just low enough that the clothesline would catch on the basket, but in order to reach it, one of them would have to lean over the basket to do so.
He looked to Rina and before he even opened his mouth, she said, “Hell no.”
“I wasn’t gonna ask. But I do need you to pull the burner cord once I tell you to, ok?”
She nodded. He leaned as far as he could go and got a hold of the clothesline. The line got caught onto the basket. It held it in place for a bit as Diego pulled with all his might. But whatever they used for the line was strong.
So strong that he had trouble yanking it off the buildings. “Rina, pull the cord!”
The idea was that when she pulled it, the force would successfully pull the clothesline with the balloon, letting Diego and Rina pick at what ever clothes were still left on it.
Rina pulled the cord and the line snapped…but not completely. A small section of it snapped but the force combined with the motion of the balloon going up caused him to lean too far and down he went.
As Rina saw him tumble over the edge, she screamed out in shock. Miraculously, Diego was still hanging on to the basket, thanks to a series of hoops designed to hold ropes with sand bags. He had the remains of the clothesline in one hand and a hand gripping one of the hoops.
There wasn’t much of the clothesline left and most of the clothes were dropped below or on the remains still attached to the buildings. As he hung on for dear life, he made the worst mistake you could do in this scenario.
He looked down.
“AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!“
He screamed as he realized how dangerous this was. Thinking quickly, he whipped the cord so that some of it could fit in the basket.
“Rina! Tie that to one of the poles. I think it might hold my weight!”
She did so and yanked on it a few times. She extended her hand over the basket, still too scared to look down, and gave him a thumbs up. He pulled on it with his left hand and it stayed.
He reached for it and held on, climbing to the basket. He was just about to get to the top when Rina pulled the burner cord, causing him to freeze as it went upwards again. He slid down a bit due to him sweating a bit as he tried not to freak out.
“Rina, why the hell did you-!”
“DIEGO, CLIMB UP QUICK!“
He looked behind him and saw why she panicked. Right in front of him was a sloped building currently housing some sort of church. If Rina didn’t pull the burner, the balloon itself would’ve hit it, but Diego was just low enough that he slammed into the sloped glass window of this fancy church.
Though he couldn’t hear most of what was going on, he heard gasps and snickers from the congregation as he slid up the glass slowly. “Rina! PULL THE CORD!!!“
She did so, flying upwards with him once more. As Diego got away from the warm glass of the church that now had a big Diego shaped smear on it, he thought to himself, “Well, if this didn’t feel like I was in hell already, that certainly earned me a one-way ticket to it…”
“You alright?” Rina yelled out.
“Oh you know…I’m just hanging around…heh.”
He then started to climb up. “Thank goodness for this clothesline, it’s pretty strong. Maybe the worst is now behi-“
His thoughts were interrupted, by the clothesline slowly going down. He looked up and realized why…the clothesline was starting to fray.
“Eep…”
He climbed as fast as he could and the clothesline snapped just as he reached the basket. He grabbed hold of the basket but he only got one hand on it before the line broke. With the sheer panic he felt, he couldn’t get a good grip.
The basket started to tip due to the imbalance and his hand started to slip. “RINA, HELP ME!!!“
Rina ran to the edge to grab his hands but caught a glimpse of the ground. She froze. She started to panic. Further and further the basket tipped. Diego knew at this point one of two things would happen.
One: She’d come with him due to the fact she was catatonic and unable to pull him up fast enough.
